Online Theory. Hands-On Practical. One Certificate.
Blended training is how most Assured Response courses are delivered. You complete the theory on your own schedule before a focused in-person skills session. It is more efficient than two full days in a classroom, and it produces the same WSIB-recognized, CSA Z1210:24 compliant certificate.
The Problem with Two Days in a Classroom
Traditional first aid certification requires two full days of in-class instruction. For individuals and organizations, that means two full days away from work, with theory and skills delivered back to back whether you're ready or not.
The blended format separates the two parts. Theory is delivered online at your own pace — you can stop, review, and repeat sections. The in-person session focuses entirely on hands-on skills practice and assessment, with no time spent on content delivery that works just as well on a screen.
The result is a more focused practical session, better-prepared participants, and no wasted time. The certification you receive is identical.
From Registration to Certificate
Five steps. You control the pace of the first two.
Register and Confirm Your Practical Date
Select your course and choose an available practical session date. For group and corporate bookings, a 50% deposit confirms the date. For public registrations, payment in full is required at booking.
Your practical date is your commitment. The online portion is flexible around it.
Receive Your Online Theory Access
Immediately upon payment confirmation, you receive an email with your online course access link. The online theory is hosted through our learning platform and accessible from any device with a browser.
No app to download. No account to create separately. The link in your confirmation email is all you need.
Complete the Theory at Your Own Pace
Work through the online modules on your own schedule. You can complete them in one sitting or spread them across multiple sessions. The content covers everything you would cover in a classroom: anatomy, emergency response procedures, protocols, and knowledge checks.
The online portion must be completed before your practical session. You have up to 60 days from enrollment to do so. Most participants finish within a week.
Attend the In-Person Practical Session
On the date you selected, attend the practical session at the training location. The entire session is devoted to hands-on skills: CPR technique, AED operation, wound care, choking response, and scenario-based assessment. There is no classroom theory delivered at this stage.
You must have completed the online theory before attending. Participants who arrive without completing the online portion cannot participate in the practical session.
Receive Your Certificate
Certificates are processed after the practical session and delivered by email. Rosters submitted to Assured Response by 10:00 AM EST are processed and sent the same day. All other submissions are processed by the next business day.
Your certificate is issued directly by Assured Response — an independent WSIB-approved certifying body. There is no third-party processing queue.
How Long Each Course Takes
The online portion is self-paced — the hours below reflect the content length, not a fixed schedule. Most participants complete the theory in fewer sessions than the listed hours suggest.

The practical session is skills-only. There is no lecture, no slides, and no time spent reviewing content that should have been covered in the online module. Participants who arrive prepared move through the session efficiently and leave certified.
Wear comfortable clothing
CPR and first aid practice involves floor work, kneeling, and movement. Avoid restrictive clothing.
Bring proof of online completion
Your completion certificate from the online module is required. Print it or have it accessible on your phone.
Arrive on time
Practical sessions begin on schedule. Late arrivals may not be accommodated, particularly for shorter CPR-only sessions.
No materials to bring
Manikins, AED trainers, and all practical equipment are provided. You do not need to bring anything except your completion proof and government-issued ID.
What People Ask Before They Register
Do I need any special technology to complete the online portion?
No. The online course runs in any modern web browser on a computer, tablet, or phone. There is no software to install. A stable internet connection is all you need.
What happens if I don't finish the online portion before my practical date?
You cannot attend the practical session without completing the online theory first. If you are unable to complete it in time, contact us before your scheduled date to reschedule. Leaving it until the day of the practical is not an option.
How long do I have to complete the online theory?
60 days from the date of enrollment. In practice, most participants complete it within a few days of receiving their access link. The 60-day window exists to accommodate scheduling flexibility, not to encourage leaving it late.
Is blended training accepted for WSIB compliance purposes?
Yes. Blended delivery is an approved format under WSIB training requirements. The certificate issued after completing a blended course is identical to one issued after a traditional in-class course and is recognized for all Ontario workplace compliance purposes.
Can my employer verify my certification?
Yes. Certificates issued by Assured Response include all information required for employer verification: participant name, course name, completion date, certification expiry, and issuing organization. Assured Response is the independent issuing body — there is no third party to contact for verification.
We have a group of employees. Can they all do the online portion on their own time?
Yes, and this is one of the main advantages of blended training for organizations. Each participant receives individual online access. They complete the theory on their own schedule, then the whole group attends the practical session together on the booked date.
Is Emergency First Aid available in blended format?
Yes. Emergency First Aid is available in both blended and traditional in-class formats. Contact us for scheduling details, as blended Emergency First Aid sessions are typically arranged for groups rather than run as open public sessions.
What if I have a physical limitation that affects the practical session?
Contact us before registering. We can discuss what the practical session involves and whether accommodations are possible. Some limitations affect certain skills but not certification eligibility overall. We would rather have that conversation in advance than on the day.
