Payment, Cancellation & Refund Terms
The terms that apply when you register and pay for a course with Assured Response.
Assured Response facilitates course bookings on behalf of its independent authorized providers through our online booking system, and helps arrange private and on-site (group) training. Each provider operates independently and sets its own specific payment, cancellation, refund, and attendance terms — those terms are presented when you book, included in your booking confirmation, and govern your registration. This page describes the general principles common across the Assured Response network. Cancellation, transfer, and refund requests must be made in writing to the provider listed on your booking confirmation — phone calls and text messages are not accepted as official notice.
1. Registration & payment
Public (open-enrolment) course fees are generally payable in full at the time of registration. Private and group/on-site training is typically secured with a deposit (see Section 5). Prices are shown in Canadian dollars and are subject to applicable taxes (HST). Payments are handled by secure third-party payment processors. Your provider's exact payment and deposit terms are shown when you book.
2. Certificate delivery & validity
Certificates are issued by Assured Response and delivered by email, within 24 hours of successful course completion and confirmation of payment in full. Rosters submitted by 10:00 AM EST, Monday to Friday, are processed the same business day; all other submissions by the next business day. Each participant receives an individual certificate, valid for the period stated for their course (typically three years for First Aid; one year for standalone CPR).
3. Blended courses — online theory must be completed first
Blended courses consist of a mandatory self-paced online component and a scheduled in-person session. The online component must be completed before attending the in-person class. Online access is issued immediately upon registration and cannot be reused once completed. Participants who have not completed the online training generally cannot attend the in-person session and may need to rebook. Certification requires successful completion of both the online theory and the in-person practical assessment — online-only completion does not result in certification.
4. Cancellations, transfers & refunds
Cancellation and transfer windows apply to every booking and tighten as the course date approaches. As general principles across the network:
- Cancelling or transferring well in advance is more likely to qualify for a refund or a free change; close to the course date, refunds and transfers may not be available.
- For blended courses, refund eligibility may also depend on how much of the online training you have started or completed.
- A processing fee may be deducted from refunds to cover non-recoverable payment-processing costs.
- No-shows are generally non-refundable, and rebooking is at your own cost.
Illness, emergencies & late requests
We understand unexpected situations happen. Provide as much notice as possible — typically at least 48 hours before the course start time — so your request can be reviewed. Requests made close to the course date may require review, can take time to decide, and are not guaranteed; the course may proceed as scheduled in the meantime.
Your provider's exact cancellation windows, processing fees, and refund amounts are set out in the terms shown when you book and in your booking confirmation.
5. Private & group (on-site) training
- A deposit is typically required on booking confirmation to secure your date, with the balance due on or before the training date.
- A final participant roster is usually required in advance (commonly at least 48 hours before the training date); anyone not on the confirmed roster may not be able to participate or be certified that day.
- Rescheduling requires advance notice; the exact window is set by the provider and confirmed when you book.
- The fee is based on the number of registered participants and is generally non-refundable for no-shows or for participants who do not meet certification requirements.
- Additional participants can usually be added before the training date at the applicable per-person rate.
- On-site sessions require a clean indoor space with room for the practical skills portion, and a screen, TV, or projector for the presentation. Please advise us in advance if a display is not available at your location.
6. Attendance, ID & conduct (in-person sessions)
For in-person sessions, you may be refused entry and required to rebook if you arrive late, do not bring valid government-issued photo ID, have not completed any required online training, or are unable to participate safely and appropriately. Specific cut-offs (such as how late is too late) are set by your provider and shown when you book.
Government-issued photo ID
ID must be original, valid, government-issued, and show a photo and full legal name. Photocopies and digital images are not accepted. Accepted forms include an Ontario Driver's Licence or Ontario Photo Card, a Canadian or foreign Passport, Permanent Resident Card, Secure Certificate of Indian Status, Canadian Armed Forces ID, NEXUS Card, Enhanced Driver's Licence, a pre-February-2012 Canadian Citizenship Card with photo, an LCBO BYID Card, a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL), or another Canadian or U.S. government-issued driver's licence. See acceptable Ontario identity documents for details.
Provider-specific requirements
Some providers have additional requirements for in-person sessions — for example, indoor shoes or socks. Any such requirements, and the consequences of not meeting them, are included in your booking confirmation.
Conduct
Classes must start on time to ensure a safe, effective learning environment. Any participant who disrupts the instructor, delays the class, or interferes with others' learning will be removed from the course without a refund and may be barred from future courses.
7. Recertification eligibility
Recertification courses are available only to holders of a valid, unexpired Assured Response certificate. Certificates issued by other organizations do not qualify; those participants must complete the full initial certification course. If you register for recertification without a qualifying certificate, we will help you transfer to the appropriate course; price differences may apply.
8. Pricing changes & errors
We may update course prices from time to time; the price shown at the time of your booking is the price that applies to that booking. If a pricing error is identified, we will contact you before processing and you may confirm at the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.
